California Early Math Initiative

“We need to replace the idea that learning ability is fixed with the recognition that we are all on a growth journey.”

What is the California Early Math Initiative?

The CAEMI, led by the Fresno County Superintendent of Schools, is an initiative that was launched with the vision of creating a ripple effect in mathematics for early education. The initiative has sought to build and empower leaders of mathematics within the communities they serve and, among many practices, shift the narrative of mathematics to one of engagement, positive math identity, and and a decrease in math anxiety. Thirty agencies participate in the initiative and HEMLT is proud to be one of the teams associated with this initiative.
